Irish Ferries: Take 15% off the ultra popular Dover to Calais route

11 November 2025 • Brooke Mackenzie

Planning to head from Dover to Calais in 2026? You’ll be in good company: around 8 million passengers flow through these ports each year. For pleasure, mostly—it’s an affordable 90 minute crossing, and a significant gateway to the beautiful wine regions, campsites, and ski resorts of France and Belgium. (It’s also a popular daytripping route for shopping. The ~€60 you’ll save on the fare would make for a lovely bottle of wine. Just saying.)

Regardless of why you want to go there, we have some good news about the how. Beginning now, tickets for trips between January 1st 2026 and October 4th 2026 are 15% off! This early bird discount will only apply until January 18th, so don’t wait to arrange your tickets.

What to do in Calais, France for a day

Calais is often experienced as a gateway to the entirety of France and Belgium. But it’s actually a wonderful place to spend the day. And with your 15% off discount for nearly all of 2026, why not? Start with an espresso on Place d’Armes, then climb up to the Town Hall belfry for a view that stretches all the way to the Channel on a clear day.

The Museum of Fine Arts is small but rich, with Rodin and Carpeaux awaiting you in the galleries. Lunch is best at a brasserie near the port; fresh mussels, a glass of white, and a view of ferries flowing in and out of the port. Before heading back, stop at Cité Europe or a local wine cave to stock up. If you’re traveling in the warmer months, be sure to check out the Calais coastline. Too cold to swim? It’s actually still worth a visit to catch some beautiful street art.

It may not be Paris, but that’s exactly the point. 😊
