About İzdeniz

İzdeniz (İzmir Deniz İşletmeciliği Nakliye ve Turizm Ticaret A.Ş.) was established in 1992 under the name İZBAK A.Ş. and took its current title in 1999. The company officially started sea passenger and vehicle transportation in İzmir Gulf in 2000 with the transfer of the ships and piers belonging to the Turkish Maritime Enterprises to İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.

İzdeniz, which initially set out with 8 passenger ships and 3 car ferries, today serves with 440 personnel, 13 passenger ships, 2 high-speed ships, 5 car ferries, 1 nostalgic ship and 1 floating facility. It organizes 200 daily trips from a total of 12 piers in İzmir Gulf; and makes additional trips to Foça, Mordoğan and Urla in the summer season.

In line with the goal of developing sea tourism of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, international trips from Alsancak to Midilli were launched in 2022. As of 2023, İzdeniz continues to be a pioneer in environmentally friendly and comfortable maritime transportation by carrying 14.6 million passengers, 1.2 million vehicles and 225 thousand cyclists.

İzdeniz Pet Policy

Planning to bring your pet aboard? Whether your companion is furry or feathered, we’ve got you covered with simple rules to help you prepare for a smooth sailing.

Traveling with your pet on an İzdeniz ferry is easy when you follow a few basic rules.

  • Dogs under 5 kg are allowed in ferry and cruise ship lounges at any time. They must be leashed and muzzled, and either carried on laps or transported in special pet strollers.
  • Dogs over 5 kg (medium and large breeds) are also welcome in lounges, except during peak hours: 07:30–09:30 and 16:00–19:00. These dogs must be leashed and muzzled, remain on the floor near their owner, and must not block passageways or occupy passenger seats.
  • Guide dogs trained for emotional or psychiatric support are permitted at all times. They must wear a muzzle and be leashed with a lead no longer than 50 cm, and remain close to their owner.
  • Cats may travel in lounges at any time but must be transported in a proper carrier, such as a cat bag, basket, or cage. Unacceptable containers include school bags, backpacks, boxes, parcels, handbags, and similar items. Cats are not allowed on leashes or to be carried in laps.
  • Small domestic birds may also be brought into lounges, but only if they are kept inside an appropriate cage.
