Stena Line Check-In & Boarding
Arrival Time
For international sailings, make sure to arrive at the port 2 to 3 hours before departure to give yourself enough time for check-in and boarding. Check-in times may vary depending on the route, so always double-check your confirmation email for the exact timing.
eTicket Options
Stena Line doesn’t support eTickets – check-in must be done at the port. We’ll send your booking confirmation to your email. Keep it handy on your phone or print it out before you travel.
Web Check-In
Web check-in is not supported. All passengers need to check in directly at the port.
Paper Ticket
Paper tickets are not issued.
Booking Confirmation
Head to the Stena Line ticket booth or self-service kiosks (where available) with your booking confirmation that we sent you to collect your boarding pass.
Vehicles on Board
All Stena Line vessels welcome vehicles, including bicycles, e-bikes, tandems, and bicycle trailers. Each passenger may bring one bicycle (except tandems) as long as it fits and can be ridden onboard. Scooters that don’t qualify as bicycles require booking as foot passenger equipment.
Please note: For safety, e-bike batteries must remain attached to the bike while stored on the car deck and cannot be carried into passenger areas.
Required Documents
Be sure to bring a valid passport, ID, or any necessary visas. You’ll need to show these during check-in and boarding. Stena Line is not responsible if you are missing the required travel documents.
Foot Passenger Boarding
- Depending on the port, you will board either via a shuttle bus or a walkway.
- At ports like Holyhead, Dublin, Liverpool, Belfast (VT2), and Cherbourg, foot passengers use a shuttle bus.
- At Cairnryan, Belfast (VT4), Rosslare, and Fishguard, a walkway is used. If you need assistance, please let the staff know during check-in.
- At Harwich, the walkway is about 300 meters long, and at Hoek van Holland it is around 700 meters, with travellators available.
- If the walking distance is challenging for you, notify the staff at check-in and they will arrange assistance.
Important
- Arriving late may result in missing your ferry and losing your booking without a refund.
- Rail & Sail passengers: if your train is delayed, ferries may wait when possible, subject to the Captain’s decision.
- Always follow crew instructions for a safe and smooth trip.
