Corfu is the most northerly of the Ionian Islands and is filled with natural beauty everywhere you turn. From Venetian architecture to rolling green hills and limestone rock formations, there’s a little bit of everything here – and we haven’t even mentioned the beaches yet. If you’re off to Corfu, then you’ll want to plan your visit. This is why we’ve put together five things you should do once you’re in Corfu, so you can enjoy the best of this beautiful Greek island.
1) Agni Bay

Experience island life at Agni Bay, a little gem on the northeast side of the island. It’s a historic fishing village with tavernas serving up delicious local seafood dishes and traditional Greek cuisine. There are also warm waters where you can dip your toes and make a splash. If you’re looking for something more lowkey during your visit to Corfu, then head to Agni Bay and slow everything down.
2) Take in some culture at a monastery

There’s plenty of culture to experience in Corfu, including historic churches and monasteries. In fact, there are more than 250 of them dotted around the island, with the Monastery of Paleokastritsa and Vlacherna Monastery the standout buildings. Vlacherna sits out on the water and is hard to miss as you head south from the airport. While Paleokastritsa is set on a hill above a beach of the same name and surrounded by cliffs and quaint bays. It’s certainly worth a few snaps from your camera.
3) Corfu Town

Head to Corfu Town, the capital of the island, to embark on a journey of beautiful sights and a buzzing atmosphere. Cobbled alleys and Venetian-era buildings greet you as you walk around, with a handful of tavernas serving up tasty seafood dishes. The Old Town is UNESCO-listed and guarded by two 16th-century fortresses, while the waterfront features a port where you can hop on a ferry and explore other Greek islands after booking your tickets from the Ferryscanner website.
4) Catch some rays on a beach

Corfu is blessed with many beaches with world-class reputations. You’re spoilt for choice, so start at Faliraki Beach, a small bay in Corfu Town where you can take a dip. Or head to Dassia Bay, which offers a long stretch of beach with calm waters for swimming. Then there’s Agios Ioannis Peristeron just south of Corfu Town. Here, you will find peaceful and laid-back vibes with a mixture of sand and pebbles. You really are spoilt for choices when it comes to Corfu beaches.
5) Corfu Trail

Hikers will delight at the Corfu trail, which twists and turns for 220km. You don’t need to walk every kilometer, but it’s a great way to take in Corfu’s stunning landscape, with views of mountains, beaches, and lagoons on offer along the way.
Experiencing Corfu
Corfu is a place that will capture your imagination and leave you with lasting memories as you discover a seductive island full of beauty and hospitality. And any one of the suggestions on our list acts as a great starting point for your Corfu adventure.
