Founded in 1993 by Captain Vittorio Morace as Ustica Lines, Liberty Lines has grown into one of Italy’s leading ferry operators, specializing in fast passenger transport across the Mediterranean. Starting with just one hydrofoil, the company has expanded to operate over 30 vessels, including hydrofoils, catamarans, and monohulls, serving more than 3 million passengers annually.
Today, Liberty Lines connects Sicily, its surrounding islands, and destinations in Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia. The company is recognized as the world leader in fast maritime passenger transport and is the only one globally with its own dedicated shipyard. Backed by a team of over 600 employees, Liberty Lines delivers reliable and frequent services, making island-hopping easy for both locals and visitors.
Focused on innovation and sustainability, Liberty Lines is currently renewing its fleet with hybrid high-speed vessels that reduce emissions and minimize their impact on the environment, while maintaining top-level service and efficiency.
Liberty Lines Check-In & Boarding
Arrival Time
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure for domestic routes and 60 minutes before for international routes, with your ticket and valid ID ready. After this time, boarding is not guaranteed.
Check-In & Boarding Pass
Before boarding, check in with Liberty Lines ground staff to collect your boarding pass. You can show it directly from your smartphone. Keep in mind that tickets are personal, non-transferable, and valid only for the specific departure booked. Boarding will be denied if the ticket is under another name or invalid, and a new ticket will need to be purchased without refund.
eTicket Options
After booking, you will receive a PDF eTicket by email from us, ready for download or printing. This will be used to issue your boarding pass at the port.
Web Check-In
Web check-in is not available. All passengers check in directly at the port.
Paper Ticket
Paper tickets are not issued. Use your eTicket on your phone or printed to check in.
Priority Boarding
In selected ports, families with children under 3 years old may request priority boarding at the terminal.
Accessible Travel for All
Liberty Lines offers wheelchair accessibility on some of its vessels, making travel easier for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM). Whether you’re navigating the ferry independently or with assistance, the available features help create a more accessible journey. If you need assistance, make sure to inform our support team at least 48 hours in advance and arrive 30 minutes before departure at the designated location.

Travel smart with Liberty Lines’ discounts for infants and children. Infants can sail for free, while children get fare reductions.
Infant Travel
Infants (0-3 years) travel free without a reserved seat on Sicily and Calabria routes.
Child Ticket
Children aged 4-11 receive fare reductions on Sicily and Calabria routes.
Passengers without a Vehicle
The Liberty Lines fleet are transport means only and exclusively for passenger without vehicles. Stretch out, enjoy the ride, and sail away to your destination.
Transfer of an unaccompanied vehicle with Liberty Lines
An unaccompanied vehicle cannot be transferred with Liberty Lines. If you need confirmation or further details, please contact our support team.
Liberty Lines Pet Policy
Pets are welcome on Liberty Lines vessels, as long as a few simple rules are followed to ensure a safe and pleasant trip for everyone.
- Small animals must travel in a carrier throughout the trip.
- Medium and large dogs must be on a leash, wear a muzzle, and have a valid health certificate, which may be requested by the crew.
- Pets are only allowed in designated pet-friendly areas or onboard kennels, where available.
- Guide dogs for visually impaired passengers can accompany their owners without restrictions.
- A pet ticket may be required, depending on the route, contact support for details when booking.
- Make sure you carry all necessary documents, such as a pet passport or health certificate, as required by regulations.
As the owner, you are responsible for your pet’s care, behavior, and hygiene during the trip.
Loyalty Program
Liberty Lines doesn’t currently offer a loyalty program or member card. If you think we’ve missed something, let us know! Our support team will gladly update any missing info—because accuracy is our favorite reward.
Liberty Lines Luggage Allowance
Each passenger is allowed one piece of hand luggage up to 10 kg, with maximum dimensions of 60x40x20 cm, free of charge. Children traveling with a half-price ticket can carry up to 5 kg of luggage.
Personal items such as suitcases, travel bags, and similar are accepted as standard luggage. Business travelers may also carry sample products up to 20 kg.
Items that don’t qualify as personal effects may be subject to double the fare and additional conditions. Make sure to keep your belongings with you at all times, as Liberty Lines is not responsible for unattended luggage.
