Wasaline Check-In & Boarding

Arrival Time

Passengers without a vehicle: Boarding begins 45 minutes before departure. You must be at the gate no later than 30 minutes before departure. Tickets are no longer valid for passengers arriving late. The boarding bridge and check-in close 15 minutes before departure.

Vehicle embarkation: Passengers traveling with a vehicle must arrive at the port at least 1 hour before departure. Reservations for both passengers and vehicles arriving late will no longer be valid.

Wasaline Pet Policy

Pets are welcome on Wasaline’s Aurora Botnia, with dedicated spaces and guidelines to ensure a safe and comfortable trip for everyone on board. A limited number of pets are allowed per departure, so be sure to declare your pet during booking through our customer support team.

  • A fee applies whether your pet stays in your vehicle or in designated passenger areas.
  • Pets over 10 kg must use the ship’s kennel. Pets under 10 kg may remain with their owner or be placed in the kennel.
  • Muzzles are required for all dogs. Guide and assistance dogs must wear a vest or harness and are allowed in all passenger areas except allergy-free cabins.
  • Pets may not roam freely or enter restaurants and indoor public areas, except for marked pet zones and service dogs.
  • Aurora Botnia offers a Pet Lounge on deck 7 with access to the outdoor deck. No separate reservation is needed; your boarding pass QR code gives you entry.
  • There are two pet-friendly cabins available. Pets are not allowed in allergy-free cabins.
  • Pets may stay in the car during the trip, but access to the vehicle deck is not possible during sailing.
  • You must bring valid travel documents, such as a pet passport, health certificate, or service dog license, and any country-specific paperwork.
  • Passengers must bring their own food and water bowls and are responsible for their pet’s care throughout the trip.

Loyalty Program

Wasaline rewards loyal passengers through its free Frequent Traveller Programme. The more you travel, the more benefits you unlock. There are three membership levels: Basic, Silver, and Gold. Each offering exclusive perks based on how often you sail.

  • Discounted fares on passenger tickets (5% for Silver, 10% for Gold)
  • Special offers and promotions sent by email
  • Priority boarding on select departures
  • Points for every trip between Vaasa and Umeå, including day cruises

Membership is personal and available to private customers aged 15 or older. Family members enjoy the same benefits when traveling with the member. Benefits apply only to online bookings made through the member portal and do not cover group or hotel package tickets.

Your membership level is updated annually and depends on the number of one-way trips you complete: 6 trips for Silver, 12 for Gold. Points cannot be added retroactively and phone or counter bookings do not qualify.

Wasaline Luggage Allowance

Wondering how much luggage you can bring on board Wasaline? You’ll need to carry all your bags with you to the passenger decks, since there’s no storage available in the car deck. If you’re traveling with a vehicle, anything left inside the car doesn’t count toward your allowance. Don’t want to carry everything around? On deck 7, near the shop, you’ll find lockers where you can safely store your luggage and personal items.
