Arrival Time

For international routes, passengers must be on board at least 2 hours before departure. For domestic routes, boarding starts 3 hours before departure, and all passengers must be at the port no later than 1 hour before the scheduled departure time.

Vehicles on Board

All vessels allow vehicles on board. You may travel with cars, campers, trucks, bicycles, or motorcycles. For pricing, check during booking or contact our support team.

Electric & Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs)

Piraeus – Milos – Heraklion Line
Passengers transporting alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) must notify the carrier in advance whether their vehicle is conventional or an AFV.

For AFVs, including fully electric, rechargeable hybrid, LPG, or natural gas vehicles, the following regulations apply:

  • Electric & Hybrid Vehicles: Battery charge must not exceed 40% when boarding.
  • LPG & Natural Gas Vehicles: Fuel tanks must not exceed 50% capacity.
  • Damaged AFVs: Vehicles with fuel system, tank, or battery damage will not be allowed on board unless the battery has been removed or the issue is clearly resolved.
  • Owner Responsibility: The vehicle owner is solely responsible for ensuring their vehicle is in safe operating condition, and the shipowner may verify this as necessary.
  • Vehicle Alarms: Passengers must immediately inform the crew if their vehicle displays an alarm or warning signal.
  • Check-in Time: AFV owners must arrive at the port 1.5 hours before departure for loading procedures.

Ancona – Igoumenitsa Line
There are no restrictions for alternative fuel vehicles on this route.

Required Documents

Passengers must present valid tickets and identification documents (passport, ID card, or driver’s license). If traveling with a discounted ticket, carry the required supporting documents, or the fare difference will be charged. Failure to present the necessary documents may result in denied entry, and the Company is not responsible if authorities refuse disembarkation due to missing or invalid travel documents.

Minoan Lines welcomes pets with valid health and vaccination documents. Here are some other details you should know before your travel:

Leashed Pets (without carrier):

  • Must be leashed and muzzled.
  • Allowed only in pet cabins or deck kennels.
  • Not allowed in indoor public areas (bars, restaurants, etc.).

Small Pets (<10 kg in carrier):

  • Allowed in pet cabins, deck kennels, outdoor areas, lounges, and airline-style seating.
  • Not allowed in food service areas.

Assistance Dogs:

  • No carrier or muzzle needed.
  • Allowed in all passenger areas.
  • Must be leashed and certified.

Minoan Lines Luggage Allowance

There are no luggage restrictions on international routes. For domestic routes in Greece, passengers are allowed two pieces of checked luggage and one piece of hand luggage. Additional luggage requires a bill of lading, which can be issued at the port agencies in Heraklion and Piraeus or at the baggage container.
