What documentation do I need when driving abroad?
When driving abroad, you must carry the following documents at all times:
- A valid passport or ID card
- A valid driver’s license
- Vehicle registration document (V5c)
- Motor insurance certificate
- Letter of authorization (if the vehicle is registered in someone else’s name, such as a company car)
While not mandatory, it is highly recommended to carry:
- Warning triangle

- Headlamp
- Spare headlamp bulbs

Additionally, seat belts must be worn by all passengers, and children under 12 years old are not permitted to sit in the front seat.
